Market Extends Losses Amid High Volatility; Rupee Recovers from Record Low

Indian equity markets continued to trade under pressure amid heightened volatility, extending their recent losing streak as investors remained cautious due to global uncertainties and weak sentiment. Benchmark indices struggled to hold gains through the session, reflecting nervousness across broader markets.

Despite the weakness in equities, the Indian rupee staged a recovery from its record low, offering some relief on the currency front. The rebound in the rupee came amid easing dollar strength and selective intervention, helping limit further downside.

Meanwhile, Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) remained a key support for the markets. DIIs continued their buying spree for the second consecutive week, purchasing equities worth Rs 12,061.92 crore, cushioning the impact of selling pressure from other investor categories.

The sustained DII inflows underline confidence in India’s long-term growth prospects, even as short-term volatility continues to dominate market movements.
