HDFC Mutual Fund has acquired more than a 0.5 percent stake in Medi Assist Healthcare Services, as per the latest exchange disclosures, signaling institutional interest in the healthcare services space.
Meanwhile, CPP Investment Board (CPPIB) has fully exited its investment in PowerGrid Infrastructure Investment Trust (PowerGrid InvIT) through an exchange of units. Following the transaction, PowerGrid InvIT witnessed a sharp reaction on the bourses.
On Friday, PowerGrid InvIT units ended nearly 4 percent lower, closing at Rs 89.16, down 3.85 percent, amid heavy trading volumes. The gap-down move reflected market concerns over the change in the unitholding pattern and near-term supply pressure after the large unit exchange.
Market participants noted that while InvITs continue to offer stable cash flows, large institutional exits can trigger short-term volatility, especially in a relatively low-liquidity segment. In contrast, the stake purchase by HDFC Mutual Fund in Medi Assist Healthcare underscores growing investor confidence in healthcare intermediaries backed by long-term demand visibility.
The developments highlight divergent institutional strategies, with fund houses selectively adding exposure to growth-oriented sectors while global investors rebalance holdings in yield-focused infrastructure assets.
